To the Editor:

On April 29th, 1 attended the hearing for the new school year budget. I was pleased to see that the majority of those in attendance were there to support it as it stands. I was against any more cutting of an education budget I consider to be strapped already. I hope that our supervisors can look for a more innovative way to increase revenue for the county than by simply raising real estate taxes across the board. We need to keep our children moving ahead toward the goal of “academic excellence.”

I was somewhat concerned with Mr. Anderson’s closing statement, at the end of the meeting, about Stuart Field in Amissville. It is a good and improving facility that certainly does testify to the efforts of volunteerism. But, I think it is unfair to use Stuart Field as an example of what people connected with the high school should try to do for the school’s own athletio
