Food Drive

.; Linda Butler, postmaster of the Washington Post Office, said the National Letter Carriers Association will be conducting a food drive on Saturday, May 11.
After insuring that food collected could go to benefit the local community, she announced that her post office will be participating. ‘ The rural letter carrier will pick up non-perishable foods from postal patrons as he conducts his rounds that day. The food will be weighed and turned over to the county’s Department of Social Services for distribution as needed.
She said, that several area churches are also participating and will be centers where food may be left off. The Washington Post Office will also adcdpt food directly. Mrs. Butler expects to turn in all the fopd collected after the carrier completes his rounds Saturday.
A check of other post offices in the county indicated that none of them afe participating in the food collection.
