Judge Foley agreed that it was an interesting one. Melissa Pullen had originally been charged with reckless driving but that charge was later dropped. According to Virginia State Trooper M.C. Woodard, Elizabeth Pullen told him she had caused the accident (she was in the passenger seat).
The charges stem from an accident that took place on Dec. 27 on Route 729 in Amissville. Following the accident, which caused the back seat passenger, 20-year-old Jennifer Beacher, to be thrown out the car’s back window, the Pullens told Va. State Trooper M.C. Woodard that a rabbit had run in front of the car and they had swerved to avoid hitting it.
On Dec. 30, testified Trooper Woodard, Elizabeth Pullen told him that, instead of the rabbit running in front of the car, she had pulled up on the emergency brake while her daughter was driving. That caused the car to go out of control and Ms. Beacher was ejected through the rear window.
Ms. Beacher, who was still wearing a back brace last week because of injuries received in the accident, testified that at the scene of the accident
