A Hearty Congratulations
A very big round of applause is due all the Rappahannock County students who competed this last week in the Piedmont Regional Science Fair in Charlottesville.
A standing ovation to the students who won honors in that competition: Chris Antony. Ryland Pace, Joshua Waddell, Lainie Morgan. Caleb Proper, Steven Clark, Dawn Andreoni and Bruce Flinchum. The quality and amount of work that went into their projects, not to mention the creativity, was evident when the local awards were given in February. It comes as no surprise that their efforts have not gone unrecognized at the regional level.
Chris Antony and Ryland Pace are to be further congratulated on their eligibility for the Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair which will be held April 12. To be eligible to compete at that level is an award in itself.
Kudos to all the students who took part, their families, the winners and the teachers for a job extremely well done.
Farmers Deserve Thanks
In light of the fact that this week is Agriculture Week, it would be a good idea to take the time to thank those neighbors you may have who are farmers. ' -
Farmers have made efforts for decades, even centuries, to preserve and protect the environment. After all, soil and water are the foundation for the business of farming so it is no wonder that the agricultural community is in the forefront of preserving and even improving our valuable, precious resources.
Farmers are solving the problems of soil erosion, maintaining clean water supplies, runoff, and becoming more efficient through Best Management Practices.
Farmers deserve our thanks, not only this week, but every day. So, if you see a farmer this week — say thanks!
