March is National Nutrition Month. For most people, what they eat is the most controllable risk factor affecting their long term health.
The five leading causes of death are in some way related to dietary factors: coronary heart disease, some cancers, stroke, diabetes (non-insulin dependent) and coronary artery disease. At one time prevalent nutrient deficiencies were a nutritional problem. This problem is now replaced with excesses and imbalances of other components in the diet. Think about your diet and how it relates to the risk factors mentioned above.
