The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Dept, recently acquired a 1986 Pierce fire truck to replace a 1971 truck.
Fire Chief Richie Burke said that the new truck has some features which the old one didn’t, and just the fact that it is newer makes it more efficient. The new one has an enclosed cab which can fit six firefighters. This is a definite improvement over riding on the outside of the truck, especially in really cold weather, when the firefighters would almost be too cold to work once
