James Grehan Sr.
James W. Grehan Sr., 75, of Warrenton, formerly of Amissville, died on Monday, March 10 at Sunrise Assisted Living Residence in Warrenton.
He was bom on April 23, 1921 in Areola, Va„ the son of Effa Megeath and William Grehan.
Mr. Grehan served as a Navy Pilot in World War EL He graduated from Virginia Tech and was a retired manager of Farm Credit Bank. He then worked as a real estate appraiser in Middleburg.
Mr. Grehan was a member of the Rotary Club and served on the Board of the Fauquier Livestock Exchange.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Filler Grehan and a brother Joseph I. Grehan.
He is survived by two sons; James W. Grehan Jr. of Palo Alto, Calif, and Robert Filler Grehan of Chicago, 111. and a daughter, Susan Grehan Merx of Tecumseh, Mich. He is also survived by two sisters; Margaret Crutchfield of Winston-Salem N.C. and Hannah Bird of Nashville, Tenn.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, March 12 at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton. The Rev. J. Richard Winter officiated.

Col. Eugene Cook
Eugene Glynn Cook, 90 of San Francisco, California, died Feb. 26.
Col. Cook was bom in Scranton, Texas, and graduated from Texas A&M.
He married Frances Carpenter in 1938 and they published a general newspaper in Nebraska before the birth of twin daughters in 1940. He was called into active duty in 1941 and retired in 1962. Gene and Frances lived in Falls Church, where he was active in the City of Falls Church Historical Soceity.
He lived in the Virginia area off and on for the greater part of his adult life, both when he was stationed at the Pentagon and in retirement where he owned acreage in Amissville for more than 30 years.
After the death of Frances in 1980, he moved to California where he resided with his daughter, Nancy andf her husband until his death. He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery alongside his wife.
His survivors include his daughters, Sally and Nancy, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
John Allsberry
John Samuel Allsberry, 89, of Strasburg, died Tuesday, March 11 at the Avante in Lynchburg.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 15 at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Flint Hill by the Rev. James Price.
