at all but I don’t think we should get into a situation where we restrict development on ridge tops. I think the proposal is too restrictive. It’s totally unworkable and it will erode support for this whole process of planning. I know as much about this as anyone here, and I’m not being boastful when I say that.”
Bryant Lee, of Lee’s Orchards in Washington, agreed with Mr. Miller’s assessment. “There are, lots that I own which I will not be able to build on if these restrictions pass. I don’t think it’s right. I have no plans to build now but in later years I may want to and this ordinance would prevent it. I don’t think that’s right.”
Sperryville resident Aileen Johnson said she agreed with Mr. Miller also and what he said were her sentiments exactly.
Col. E.P. Luke, of Sperryville, said he has reservations about whether the ordinance with the proposed amendments would hold up in court if it were challenged. He cited passages from the State Erosion Control Law and cautioned the Commission to be careful.
