and then descending to play in the river at the base of the mountain is a popular excursion. Another favorite trek is White Oak Canyon/Cedar Run. The swimming hole up Nicholson Hollow is cool on a warm summer day.
The camp day also includes informal sports, arts and crafts, writing and illustrating stories. The second Thursday of each camp session is an overnight. Campers bring sleeping bags and tents (if they have one). The girls and boys are quite enthusiastic about setting up the camp site and cooking out.
Camp directors are Susan Hoffman and Mike Biniek. Susan has many years experience as a teacher (pre-school through junior high) and has three grown children. Mike is particularly knowledgeable about nature and wildlife and enjoys wood projects. Both Susan and Mike are certified Red Cross Water Safety Instructors and life guards.
Camp sessions are June 16-27, June 30-July 11, July 14-25, July 28August 8, and August 11-22. Camp open house/open pool is Sunday, June 1, from 2-4 p.m. Anyone interested is invited. Call 987-9748 for more information or to schedule a visit.
