Foster Parents Needed
• Consider the plight of a child of abuse or neglect. A child in Such a situation needs help. If it is a very dangerous situation the child is removed through a court process. Other situations that put Children in need of help and a temporary home are abandonment or a death in the family.
This is where .^ster care and foster parents can help. It may only be a night, where they are provided with a loving, secure, stable family and home environment, or they may need long term assistance depending on their situation.
The child welfare agency, the Department of Social Services, has legal custody of the child and assumes ultimate responsibility.
May is Foster Care Month in the state of Virginia. It is drawing to a close but the need for foster parents is growing. In Rappahannock County, there are presently nine children placed in four different foster homes, and more foster parents are needed to take care of teenaged children. Presently there are 10 fully approved homes for foster care in Rappahannock County. ' Foster parents have made a difference in the lives of countless needy children.
