To the Editor:
Thank you for including in your coverage of the school board meeting that Dr. Gangel reports he had been studying the impact of having children of non-resident employees attend Rappahannock County schools. I was pleased to read the Dr. Tole, want to see the figures of the actual cost incurred. I suspect that the citizens who are making this “a political hot potato” will be interested and even surprised by these dollars and cents facts.
Would you consider doing some investigative reporting for the education of your readers? The tone of previous articles has been that these nonresidence students are a cost liability for school system. However, it is my understanding that the county receives state and federal funding based on average daily attendance.
