the luncheon was 17-year-old Lucinda Gray, who is back with her family now but lived with a foster care family from the age of 13 to 16. The family had eight other children, and she said she really enjoyed it. Lucinda felt that she would have gotten into more trouble, like she did before she went to her foster family, if she had not gone to her foster family. Her new mom was like a counselor and gave her good advice, said Lucinda.
She also attended church a lot, which she said was hard at first, but she got used to it. Her foster family listened to her and did not judge her for what she had done in the past. Now a senior at Rappahannock County High School, Lucinda is thinking of her future. She has several possible career choices — a juvenile probation officer, a social worker, or maybe a police officer.
