female Cardinal under the bay window. We admired the subtle hues of the plumage sadly and wondered if the bird could have been saved if we had been there for quick rescue efforts.
I get many telephone calls and questions about window strikes. It is a common occurrence and there is no doubt that the frequency of these collisions, with death as a result, is taking its toll of bird life along with cats and other unnatural, man-caused factors.
The sex of our chickadee was unknown, one cannot tell unless color and pattern of plumage are obvious as in Cardinals.
