The RCHS junior varsity softball team had a difficult time of it last week against Luray. The Lady Panthers started out well in the first inning with back to back home runs.
Pitcher Kelly Atkins and Dana Caldwell had the home runs. At the end of the second inning Rappahannock was still ahead 2-1.
But after that the team had trouble with their plays. The defense could not seem to make the plays needed to stop Luray. The pitcher also walked batter after batter and Luray’s runs mounted.
Rappahannock kept struggling and actually out hit Luray but couldn’t turn their defensive plays around and made too many errors.
They lost to Luray 17-2.
