A group of 4-H Club members got a jump on everyone else and had a trash pick up contest Monday on Gay Street in Washington. The youngsters picked up 358 pounds of trash in about an hour. Winners in the 4-H trash pick up contest were Cherly Woodard and Pam Estes, working together and Bryan Huff as a single unit. Apparently Donna Roy does a good job of baking an apple pie, for she was the winner in the pie baking contest held Friday at Rappahannock County High School. In second place was Ellen Timbers and third, Nina Metzinger. The RCHS Lady Panthers topped the Generalettes of Stonewall Jackson High - in a track meet Tuesday at Mt. Jackson. The local team participated in 12 events and took seven firsts, five seconds and six thirds. Bill Kilby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin R. Kilby of Sperryville, was recently nominated for membership in the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society at the University of Virginia.
