Rappahannock News Staff Writer , Last year Jeanie McNear, RSVP Volunteer Coordinator and Capt. Jeff Brown of the Rappahannock Sheriff’s Office began a Triad organization in the county. Triad’s purpose is to reduce crime, heighten awareness and improve life for senior citizens in an area.
In October the group met to organize a survey of county residents to determine the areas people felt they needed help with or things they would like to see done to help county residents with crime and safety issues.
The first step was the formation of a SALT council. SALT stands for seniors and lawmen together. The council works to enlist the aid of area volunteers to carry out the mission of Triad.
SALT council members are: Michael Soule, Sid Gottlieb, Dieter Knuepfer, John Hartline, Melinda Beach, Debbie Fluorney, McNear and Brown.
They held their first meeting in March and plan their next one for April 22 at 2 p.m. at the Washington fire hall. There will be a special presentation on fraud — a $40 billion a year business in the U.S. — by Brown. It will look at how
