Michelle Ann Atkins of Washington and Charles William Jenkins Jr. of Washington were married Oct. 11 at the Amissville Baptist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy S. Atkins of Washington and the granddaughter of Mrs. Mamie Heflin of Rixeyville and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Atkins of Sperryville.
The groom is the son of Laura R. Jenkins of Jacksonville, Fla. and the late Charles W. Jenkins and the grandson of Rev. Edward C. Jenkins and Mrs. Barbara Jenkins of Washington.
The Rev. Vernon DeLong of Amissville performed the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Joyce Bennett of Boston was the pianist. A CD selection of “Up Where We Belong” by Joe Cocker was played after the unity candle was lit; all chosen by the bride and groom.
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a formal gown with long sleeves, and a princess cut neckline and a v-shaped back. The neckline and sleeves were outer lined with a double row of pearls. The satin bodice featuring pearls and sequins fell into a basque waistline. The full length ballroom skirt and very detailed, chapel length train were accented with sculptured lace, embroidered with tiny pearls and iridescent sequins. The headpiece adorned with silk rosettes and sculptured lace elongated with a elbow length tulle illusion. Her bouquet was a cascade of live flowers made of star gazer lilies and rbses accented with burgundy carnations, ivy and alencon lace.
The groom wore a formal black tails tuxedo with a white vest and tie adorned with a burgundy carnation boutonniere.
