New Reservoir
Willis presented a written statement that mentioned his meeting with Gen. Berry, his wife, Ann Berry, Col. Nels Parson and Critzer at the new reservoir site where they discussed purchasing the land for the town.
“In all we do now, it is essential that the town restore and maintain its credibility in Gen. Berry’s vie,” said Willis. “Any proposal must include a solid commitment by the town and must be directed at maintaining the environment and integrity of the Berry’s property to the greatest extent possible... providing future security to the area from unwanted intrusion.”
In executive session, the board discussed making a proposal to Berry, but took no action.
Other Business
• The council voted to endorse a statement opposing telecommunication towers in the town. The vote was six to one with Critzer voting “nay.”
He opposed the statement because he believed cellular telephones were necessary for the local fire and rescue companies.
• Mrs. Viguerie reported that the town and water works assets totaled $321,662.28, with $181,014.94 in the sewer fund and $54,400 in the water works reserve.
• The water treated but not billed in February decreased about 18,000 gallons from the previous month, to only 121,400 gallons.
