“Animals are my thing,” said Welch. She is best known for her paintings of cows.
“People will say to me at shows, ‘I really like these, and I don’t even like cows.’”
Her art features a variety of local subjects, including cattle at Jordan River Farm, a burro at Fairlea Farm, and a scene from the Rappahannock Races. An artist in demand
Welch originally worked in graphic design, and started painting a number of years ago.
“I was trying to think of something I could do at home, so I could spend more time with my two children,” she said.
Her efforts have resulted in a number of noteworthy achievements.
In addition to having her prints appear in the Faith Mountain Company catalog, Welch has had a painting on display at the U. S. Senate Caucus.
