Regional Wrestling Tournament.
Conner was seeded second in a weight division that had 11 wrestlers vying to advance to the Regional competition. Conner’s only lose of the day was a one point decision, in sudden death overtime, to the number 1 seeded wrestler in the Championship match to finish second in the District.
Conner was the youngest wrestler from the Culpeper team to qualify for the Regional Championship. One of his coaches stated, “this is a phenomenal accomplishment for a first year wrestler, we’re extremely proud of him.”
The Southern Regional Wrestling Tournament will be held on April 9, 10 and 11 at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center in Salisbury, Md. The top three wrestlers from each weight class in this tournament advance to the Middle Atlantic Eastern National Championships in Scranton, Pa. the following weekend.
