Spring break days announced
Originally, spring break was scheduled for March 29 through April 5 for Rappahannock school system. However, since school was closed three days due to inclement weather since Feb. 11, it is necessary to use March 29, 30, 31 and April 1 as make up days. The official spring break is now April 2-5.
Local artist 5 work on display
The colorful contemporary paintings of Rappahannock artist Hans Wolfram Gerhard will be on display at the Old Sperryville Bookshop through April. Mr. Gerhard, of Slate Mills, was bom and educated in Germany. He trained as an artist in Germany and later at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. Since 1987, he has worked on the restoration of his Hughes River Farm, where he has a studio. His moderately priced small paintings on paper are on sale at the bookshop. Rescue Auxiliary plans event
The Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad Auxiliary announces the first swap/trade or sell event scheduled for March 27 at the Rescue Squad Building on Main Street, Sperryville.
“Looking for that special party dress, Easter outfit, prom dress or perhaps the Miss Rappahannock pageant gown, well your dilemma could be solved in just one afternoon, without leaving the county,” said an organizer. For more information call Nancy at 987-8495 or Betty at 9877256.
Easter breakfast scheduled
The Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department will sponsor a breakfast and Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 3 from 8 to 11 a.m. The egg hunt will begin at 11:15 a.m.
Breakfast items will include scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, gravy, biscuits, pancakes, potatoes and muffins. For more information call Thora Pullen at 987-9339.
Auxiliary plans egg hunt
The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will sponsor their second annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 3 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. The event will not only include an egg hunt with the Easter bunny but pictures with her, face painting, balloons, story telling, prizes, snack and fun activities for all.
