Professor Bayard L. Catron of Sperryville will speak at the Rappahannock Library on Friday, April 9 at 8 p.m.
His topic will be “Smart Growth” and Land Conservation, in which he will address issues and prospects for land conservation in Rappahannock County, as well as “smart growth” initiatives in various locales elsewhere.
Mr. Catron, who has been a professor of public administration and policy at George Washington University for 25 years, teaches courses in environmental ethics and policy, and also one entitled “Land Use Planning and Community Development.”
He lives in Jenkins Hollow above Sperryville, and has been active in the Sperryville Gateway Project, RLEP, and in establishing RappNet, an e-mail list for Rappahannock County.
