government and the business community must take the lead — the Rappahannock News has begun planning for a new cooperative effort.
For its part, the Rappahannock News will coordinate the development of a volunteer-based trash disposal service in cooperation with the Ragged Mountain Resource Center and other interested public and private organizations.
As conceived, the effort will consist of the acquisition and modification of a vehicle to pick up trash and recyclables, and to locate the vehicle at the present dumpster and other sites around the county after the dumpsters have been closed.
Volunteers will man the vehicle to ensure that only acceptable trash is deposited and to take full loads to the landfill.
