Sharp Rock wins
two medals
Sharp Rock Vineyards, one of Rappahannock County’s newest wineries, was awarded two medals in the Virginia Governor’s Cup wine competition in a ceremony held Monday in Richmond. Its 1999 Chardonnay Reserve received a Silver Medal, and its 1999 Cabernet Franc received a Bronze. Over 200 wines were evaluated in this annual event, which has become the most prestigious competition for Virginia vintages.
Sharp Rock Vineyards is located near Old Rag Mountain at the intersection of Routes 601 and 707; they are open Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 1 to 5 p.m.
