mere wm De a volunteer table set up next to the main entrance to the school. Please check in there to find out which volunteer tasks may still need attention. The Smoke House is a popular site for the children. As they “tour” the house they learn about fire safety, but it requires lots of volunteer help. The simulated “smoke” is safe and not offensive. If you are able and willing to work inside or outside of this exhibit for even a short time, please stop by the volunteer table and offer your services. If you have questions or can volunteer in advance, please call Jan Makela at 987-8259.
Many thanks to Mrs. Deborah Flournoy for her generous donation of Beanie Babies to the RCES PTO. On DARE Day/Field Day door prize tickets will be given out to all parents of preschool children aged zero through five who attend the preschool event in the Central Courtyard and Butterfly Garden at RCES. At the end of the day, tickets will be drawn for ten different Beanie Babies to be awarded to the lucky winners. If you are the parent of a preschool child, please plan to attend to discover the wide array of services available in Rappahannock County and the public schools for you and children. Just follow the balloon lined walkway at the center entrance to the school and follow the arrows!
• The Relay for Life celebration at RCES last Friday was a huge success in spite of the rain. Though several of the events were moved inside, walking continued outside throughout the night and the American Cancer Society exceeded its goal, raising over $4,000 more than last year! The RCES Middle School band played for the event and received rave reviews!
• The July 4th Student ArJ Show is still accepting works of art through the last day of school. Any student in Rappahannock County Public School grades K-12 may submit a two dimensional work of art, not to
