Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police are investigating a bam fire near Huntly that occurred on May 16 that resulted in the deaths of three horses.
According to Sheriff Larry Sherertz, The call came in at about 7:30 p.m., reporting that a bam adjacent to a dwelling on Rt. 522 was on fire. “It took a long time to put the fire out, and only one of the four horses inside the barn managed to escape,” said Sherertz.
Cause of the blaze has not been determined.
Trees cut down
Also under investigation is the cutting of seven large trees in the Castleton area, which occurred around midnight on May 20.
A resident living near the intersection of Castle Mountain Road and Laurel Mills Road called the Sheriff’s Office after hearing chainsaws running and trees crashing to the ground.
