inate child abuse and other risks to children in “at-risk” families. The program starts with the identification of those “at-risk” families, and their assessment to determine eligibility. Those families that are deemed eligible in the basis of a two to three hour interview are offered the program on a voluntary basis. The family’s strengths and weaknesses are evaluated in tailoring the program that will include assistance from a case worker in developing parenting skills, coordination with other social service agencies, job finding assistance, and promotion of the child’s immunization.

Roger Roach spoke on behalf of the Fire Services Fund budget. He said that the budget proposal is 6.5 percent over last year, and that most of the increase is dedicated to communications enhancements.
