Hospice of the Rapidan relies heavily on its dedicated volunteers, and once a year, makes a special effort to recognize their efforts. Hospice staff members joined volunteers at The Hazel River Inn restaurant in Culpeper on April 11 for a delightful lunch, award presentations and a silent auction.
The luncheon was set during National Volunteer Week, when volunteers across the country get a well deserved ovation from the organizations they serve.
Seven Hospice of the Rapidan volunteers were recognized for driving over 1,000 miles last year while caring for patients. Sharon Kilpatrick of Woodville was recognized from Rappahannock County.
The guest speaker for the lunch, Rev. Karl Netting, gave a moving and thought provoking talk in which he used a down comforter as an analogy of the work of hospice care givers.
