allegedly got into a fight with a companion after returning to Laurel Mills from Luray. Apparently Keel was angry that his companion had not helped him during a fist fight in Luray, and upon reaching the Laurel Mills Store at about 3:49 a.m., he threatened to kill the man and fired a handgun at him. Unharmed, the man fled the scene, but the shots were heard by a deputy who lives in the area, who called the Sheriff’s Office for back-up. Once on the scene, Dep. Connie Compton and Dep. James Welch questioned witnesses, and located Keel at a residence nearby, where he was staying. He surrendered without incident. Keel has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, brandishing a firearm, abduction, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. “Other charges are pending,” according to Sherertz. Upon further investigation, it was learned that a warrant for his arrest had been issued in Iowa. Keel is currently incarcerated in the Rappahannock County Jail.
