If you had driven by the Washington fire hall at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 13 you would Aot have seen anyone outside inspecting the Wealth of goodies under the big Lions Club Auction tent. i The sky was dark, the wind was gusty and 1 mil the size of ice cubes had been pelting the t ars and trucks in the parking area. We were i inxiously reminded of another auction a few ; 'ears ago when the tent was ripped and blown down flat and lions and everything Assembled for auction was soaked by a cloudburst. We thought “We’ll have to postpone.” ! But when we ran through the rain and Into the fire hall, the place was packed wall to Wall with people. “God Bless our wonderful Community.” Lions President, Jeff Light has reported “One of the most successful auctions We have ever had. We’ve got to thank everyone.” So that’s what we’re doing.
The Lions are truly grateful for all the genArous donations, for all the enthusiastic bidding And for the great turn- out on what was definitely not an encouraging night to leave home to be challenged by thunder and lightening.
Our loyal team of heavy-lifting Lions with loaded pick-ups and trailers drove anywhere And everywhere to collect, store and deliver an Amazing assortment of items, old and new, heavy or light, great and small, almost all of which found new homes by 10 p.m. How?
