The Virginia Commission for the Arts announces an Aug. 1 deadline for receipt of applications for Individual Artist Fellowships. This year the Commission will be reviewing applications in the disciplines of crafts, photography, sculpture and fiction. A limited number of fellowships of up to $5,00(^are available to professional writers and visual artists of exceptional talent. Funding in this category is highly competitive.
The purpose of the Individual Artist Fellowship program is to encourage significant development in the work of individual artists and in the medium in which they work, to support the realization of specific ideas, and to recognize the central contribution professional artists make to the creative environment of our state.
