The Committee administering the Mary Beth Williams Memorial Fund will host its annual fundraiser and dinner on Saturday, May 27. The event is scheduled at 5 p.m. at the home of Roger and Geneva Welch near Flint Hill.

Mary Beth Williams was tragically killed in an automobile accident on Route 729 on May 14, 1997.

The memorial fund established in Mary Beth’s name has as its purpose the funding of scholarships for higher education, camp attendance and other activities for the youth of Rappahannock County.

All citizens of Rappahannock County and the surrounding area are invited to attend this function. The cost of tickets is $50 per couple or $25 per person. Tickets are available at the Rappahannock Cooperative Extension Service, 675-3619.

The Mary Beth Williams Memorial Fund provided five scholarships of $1,000 each to Rappahannock County college students last year.

The requirements for these scholarships are as follows:

1. Applicant must be a resident of Rappahannock County.

2. Applicant must be a senior that has been accepted in a two or four-year college or a student that is presently enrolled in a two or fouryear college.

3. Applicants majoring in Agriculture and/or an active participant in the Rappahannock 4-H Program will be given priority consideration.
