Corine Grady Wharton Menefee, 77, of Culpeper died Sunday, May 21 at Culpeper Regional Hospital.

She was bom Sept. 20, 1922 in Rappahannock County, a daughter of the late Amos Wharton and Edith Dodson Wharton.

Mrs. Menefee loved flowers and was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Laney B. Menefee of Culpeper; two sons, James William Menefee and his wife, Peggy of Bealeton and George William Menefee and his wife, Sally Ann of Woodbridge and four daughters, Frances Ann Brooks, Ruby M. Orange, Betty A. Settle and her husband, Frank, all of Culpeper and Juanita Kenney and her husband, Larry of Reva.

Additional survivors include ten grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by two sisters, Rhodie Wilson of Orange and Mary Martin of Culpeper and a brother, Kinsey Wharton of Woodville.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 25 at 2 p.m. at Found and Sons Chapel with the Rev. John S. Farrar and Sanford L. Martin officiating.

Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Robert Lucas

Washington resident

Robert Lee Lucas, 49, of Washington died Monday, May 15 at Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal. ; Mr. Lucas was a custodian.

_< He was bom July 6,1950.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Lucas of Washington; a daughter, Tammy Phillips of Culpeper and three grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters, Charlotte Blackwell of Washington, D.C., Laura Williams of California and Mary Hamm of Marshall; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, May 19 at Hopewell Baptist Church in Sperryville with the Rev. Henry A. Townes officiating. Burial was at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Flint Hill.

Joynes Funeral Home Inc. in Warrenton was in charge of the arrangements.
