We are hoping that this event, along with the Lazy S Llama Fair, Amissville Volunteer Fire Department Open House, Gray Ghost Winery, Paul Pullen’s Fire Museum, and many other businesses will bring the community of Amissville together.
The Amissville Fireman’s carnival planned for June 28 - July 1 is looking for queen and king contestants (age 3-7 for king). Tickets are available from Sandy Carter at 937-4218. The prizes this year are first $1,000; second $500 and two third $50 and two fourth $25. Tickets are a dollar and try to buy them from a contestant, because the one that sells the most tickets is the winner.
Also that week June 26-30, Amissville Baptist Church is having Vacation Bible School. The theme is SonZone Discovery Center. The pastor’s challenge is 175 children, if we meet that goal we were thinking of slimming the pastor, or if anyone has another idea we are open to suggestions. The registration will be on June 24 at the SonZone Carnival.
There will be games, face painting, pony rides and many more activities. Plan to attend from 3 to 5 p.m. for registration and for a fun time.
On display at Hackley’s Store is a notebook of photo’s taken by Cathy Lou Smith for an essay she wrote for a county contest. The photos are of the Amissville area and will be there until the end of June. Stop by and take a look.
