Many of the former pastors of the church will be participating in the Building Dedication Service on Sunday, June 4. Those coming are Rev. Gilbert Profitt, Rev. John Divers, Rev. Larry Hovis, Rev. Steve Scoggin, Rev. Earl Jarrell, Rev. David Moore, Rev. Bill Snead and Rev. David Small. Also planning to come are Mrs. Ann Hildrup and Mrs. Ann Stout Adams, both great-granddaughters of Rev. Barnett Grimsley; Mrs. John Paulson, Mayes Campbell’s daughter; and Mrs. Carolyn Gates Dewhurst, daughter of Jessie Miller Turner and granddaughter of Gates Jones. Mayor Stewart Willis is also planning to attend besides other invited guests.
An open invitation is extended to the whole community to come join the church family of Washington Baptist Church in a time of great celebration on this Sunday. A historical program will be presented at 10 a.m. and a Building Dedication Service will take place during the morning worship hour at 11. Immediately following that service lunch will be served in the new fellowship hall with a brief cornerstone laying service to follow.
