The RappahannockRapidan Early Intervention Council is pleased to announce that Council Coordinator Barbara Willard of Amissville, has been invited to serve as a parent member of the Advisory Board to The National Center on Education, Disability and Juvenile Justice (EDJJ).
The EDJJ has been recently established at the University of Maryland to address the needs of youth with disabilities in the juvenile justice system. This project is a collaborative partnership between the University of Maryland, University of Kentucky, Arizona State University, the American Institutes for Research and the PACER parent advocacy center in Minnesota.
The center has received a five year, $2.75 million award through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Education and the U. S. Department of Justice. The center will conduct research and training, provide technical assistance, and disseminate information related to youth with disabilities in the juvenile justice system and those at risk for involvement with the juvenile justice system.
The purpose of the EDJJ Advisory Board is to review EDJJ activities, provide guidance and feedback to staff, and serve as a conduit to key stake holder groups. The Advisory
