Post Office
construction
to start
On Friday, June 30 representatives of the Amissville Area Community Association (AACA) met with the US Postal Service concerning the new village post office. It was confirmed that a construction contract has been awarded to Sierra Construction of Monrovia, Md.
Work is to officially begin on July 6 with a targeted completion in December 2000. The opening of the new facility is scheduled for January 2001.
AACA, the USPS and contractor are now finalizing the building exterior material, color scheme, lighting fixture style and landscaping.
The USPS has agreed to provide space and power for a village information kiosk that will be prepared by the association. A community meeting for the USPS to present the Post Office is being scheduled for Aug. 10.
