School Board Vacancy

The position of Jackson District representative on the Rappahannock County School Board is vacant due to resignation. Citizens interested in being considered for appointment are encouraged to submit, in person, a letter of interest, along with a resume, to the School Board Clerk (Mrs. Mary Anne Biggs) at the School Board Office at 6 Schoolhouse Road. Upon receipt of that letter and resume, it will be required that prospective candidates fill out a questionnaire and return it to the School Board Office by 12:00 noon on July 14, 2000. Candidates must be registered voters from within the Jackson District.

A special called public hearing has been scheduled to interview candidates on Tuesday, July 18 at 700 p.m. in the Rappahannock County Courthouse. The appointment of an interim Jackson District School Board Member will be made on Tuesday, July 25, 2000 at 7:30 pan. in the School Board Office. The term of interim position will extend until the seating of an elected Jackson District member in January 2001. The next Jackson District Schcx)l Board election will be held during the general election in November 2000. The elected School Board will fill the remainder of the current term.
