So tightly did she sit that I had to reach under her to count the eggs with my fingers. In my repeated checks, this female never moved. Her mate did not put in an appearance at any of my checks.
These examples of bird behavior demonstrate two • reactions to predation. This • diversity of behavior enables bluebirds to adapt to many situations, exploit a number of habitats, and — as a result — thrive in a man-made world.
There is cause for joy among us humans who love bluebirds. This joy is an example of diversity in our behavior.
