The only student timong that charter class of 14 Starfish mentor trainees was a RCHS junior named Meghan Fairbrother. She and her mother had seen a notice in the Rappahannock News asking for volunteers to become “mentors”. They discussed the idea and Meghan wanted to try it. “I joined to help other kids. I thought it would be interesting to meet someone I really didn’t know and to give them more opportunities.”‘She put her thought into action and her mentor training to work.
