When I attended the graduation ceremony for the RCHS Class 2000 on June 10, I had no idea that I would be invited to contribute a Starfish item to fill a Panther Pause space in the Rappahannock News. It was an opportunity that I accepted even though it does take time to fill space, as Jan Makela well knows. But she has certainly deserved some time off for the summer. So, once again, I volunteered.

What is it about this community that seems to stimulate Volunteerism? It seems to affect people of all ages. The spirit of the volunteer has been well represented in the Class of 2000. It’s one of the reasons that so many have been describing that senior class as “very special”, or the “best of the best.”

Did you take time to review the faces in that two page spread in the June 7 Rappahannock News? Personally, I can’t remember a more attractive assembly of young adults. I’ve seen a lot of them over the years. I owe them all a debt of gratitude for what they did to renew my faith in the future. That gift
