Mrs. Semmes and Rappahannock Lions Club.

Children who participate in athletic programs learn more than just the sport that they are playing. They learn team work and discipline. It is important that we as a community support all of the athletic opportunities that are available to the children of Rappahannock County. We are fortunate to have so many talented children in this county. The graduating class of 2000, has five seniors that will be competing in sports at the college level. All of them started in a league that was supported by their community.

Allison Baker will be playing soccer at Bridgewater College, Meghan Fairbrother will be playing soccer at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, in Florida and Shawn Torrance will be playing soccer at the University of Charleston, W.Va. Two other seniors, Alex Baumgardner, who will be playing baseball at Ferrum College and Ervin Phillips who will be playing basketball at Shenandoah University, are also among the Class of 2000. Congratulations to these seniors and best of luck to them all.

Again, many thanks to all those people in this community that helped make this season so successful for the Rappahannock Soccer League.
