Rappahannock’s Supervisors have accepted Fanning Baumgardner’s resignation as assistant county zoning administrator, but have asked that he continue to serve as county engineer, building inspector, secretary to the Planning Commission and assistant to the Water and Sanitation Authority. The Supervisors directed Pete Luke to work out “an arrangement” that would make Baumgardner’s technical expertise available to the zoning administrator even though he has resigned as his assistant. Norma Jean Williams was named Honorary Fire Chief this year in connection with the annual firemen’s carnival at Chester Gap. She was crowned by outgoing chief, Terri Leake. Patty Williams was first runner-up and Donna Williams was second. From both the queen and cheif contests a total of $1,331 was realized.

The county’s new dog pound at the Amissville landfill is under roof. According to County Administrator John McCarthy, the building should be ready for use in late July.
