Golf tournament set

The newly formed Rappahannock County School Sports Association is holding their first fund raiser, a golf tournament on Saturday, Oct. 21. The tournament will be played in Front Royal at the Jackson Chase Golf Club beginning at 1 p.m.

A barbecue dinner will be served at the end of the day. A maximum of eighteen teams can play. All funds raised from the tournament will benefit the Rappahannock County School athletic programs. For more information or to enter a team call Cathy Kreyling at 987-8131.

Retired teachers to meet

The local chapter of Virginia Retired Teachers Association will meet at the Flint Hill Public House on Monday, Oct. 9 at 11:30 a.m.

Family portraits to be taken

Get your family, friends, relatives and co-workers to have their picture taken at Amissville United Methodist Church on Saturday, Oct. 21 and help the church raise some funds for the building fund. For only $5 each family will have their portrait taken by a professional photographer and will receive a 10x13 color portrait free. Additional portraits may also be purchased. Band Boosters to meet

Shooting match every Friday

A shooting match will be held every Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Castleton Community Volunteer Fire Company. Rules are: 12 gauge shotguns, only restriction 36 inch barrels arid 25 yards. For additional information call 937-4110.

Rutherford reunion slated

The family of the late William "Jube" and Ella Frazier Rutherford will hold their annual reunion on Oct. 7 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Rappahannock Park pavilion located on US 211 at Washington. All family and friends are invited to bring a covered dish and attend.
