county with a large combined squad of 25 boy and girl runners. The Mustangs won the contest 20 to 45, but the Panthers had some standouts.
Phillip Thomas led the RCHS runners with a time of 17:43 which placed him third among the boys. Chris Graves also finished in the top ten with a 20:00 minute run that put him in 19 place overall.
John Sheffield, Jason Gainer, Matt Ralston, Chris Ehrhart and Bryant Lee also finished for RCHS and all broke 30 minutes. Alyssa Berry's time of 21:24 was good enough to give her first place overall for girls and continues to show the District she's a serious competitor.
Elaine Smith, Erica Hilscher, Kori Alexander and Karie Von Fange all followed Ms. Berry and finished the three mile course for the Lady Panthers braking 30 minutes as well.
Other activities
The open gym for basketball continues every Saturday between now and January. Girls in the sixth to 12 grades have between 9 and 11 a.m. on Saturdays to come and "shoot around" or play pickup games. Boys have the same opportunity between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Attendance is improving, but we still need more players and parents to keep this activity productive.
