Fire destroys
barn at WCDS

A fire which destroyed a large bam on the Wakefield Country Day School campus last week was the cause of a brief interruption in classes as students were allowed outside to witness the blaze which could be seen from the school yard. Flames were noticed at about 9:40 Tuesday morning at the bam locat-. ed behind TVinity Manor, adjacent to the school. By that time, the building was already engulfed in flames.
Firefighters from Flint Hill, Washington, Chester Gap, and Front Royal responded* dousing what was left of the old bam, part of the property once owned by Dr. and Mrs. William E. Lynn Sr., the parents of Wakefield Country. Day School's co-founder, Dr. William E. Lyiin Jr. The barn, which was in poor condition and had »ot been used for some time, once housed race Horses.
While electrical power to the adjacent Trinity Manor, boarding house for several of Wakefield Country Day School international students, was interrupted for a short time, the residence incurred no damage.
