program assists law enforcement officials to speedily locate wanderers. More than 97% of registered individuals are returned safely, compared to 57% of non-registered individuals.
Advocacy
The chapter works to protect the financial, legal and long-term health care security of persons with Alzheimer’s disease and their families by engaging in grassroots advocacy lobbying activities targeting federal, state and local legislation.
Public Awareness
Increasing the visibility of the Chapter in the Northern Virginia community is a primary goal. The chapter works closely with the print and electronic media to promote and support its programs and services. Current events, educational articles, research updates and caregiving advice are also provided in a quarterly newsletter, families and friends.
Financial Assistance
The chapter provides financial assistance to family members in monetary need of respite care, emergency assistance and autopsies.

Alzheimer’s disease affects people from every cultural background.
