November and the Thanksgiving holiday season are a special time for many families, a time filled with special memories of days gone by. Since 1983, President Ronald Reagan also has proclaimed November as National Alzheimer’s Disease Month — to recognize the progress being made against Alzheimer’s disease and to show understanding and support for the individuals with the disease, as well as their families and friends.
Since that time, the Alzheimer’s Association has used the event to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease, the experiences of people with the disease and their families, and the importance of finding treatments, preventions and a cure.
In your community, at your job or in your place of worship, you can help make a difference in the lives of individuals touched by Alzheimer’s disease and their families.
