Service to honor Rev. Pendleton A service of "praise and gratitude" will be held at the Promise Land Baptist Church near Washington on Friday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. in honor of Rev. John R. Pendleton, who has retired following his 25 years of service at the church. Rev. Harry A. Townes, pastor of the Hopewell Baptist Church in Sperryville will be the guest preacher and singing will be provided by a community choir made up of choir members from various churches in the county. Rev. Forrest Freeman, son of Promise Land Baptist Church will be the Worship Leader. Everyone is welcome to attend the service and wish Rev. Pendleton well. James R. Freeman Sr., is chairman of the deacons, Ora Roy is the church clerk and Lillian F. Aylor Is Co-ordinator.
