WCDS Salutes Veterans with Special Assembly
This week, Wakefield Country Day School chose to honor veterans with a special Veteran’s Day assembly, which began with an invocation by Rev. Jon Heddleston of Sperryville, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and two patriotic songs sung by all of the students in grades one through twelve.
Head of School Kathleen Grove then gave opening remarks, presenting a brief history of Veterans Day and reminding the students that a year ago on this day, the school had honored a special veteran. The WCDS auditorium is now known as the Leonard M. Cowherd Auditorium, in honor
